International flight to Enugu Airport commences

The residents in Enugu State and its environs on Saturday trooped to the newly upgraded Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, to witness the first flight activity in the airport. 
Boeing 737-800 Ethiopian Airline with registration number ET-APL, was the first to touch the new tarmac of the airport.

In his remarks, through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Pius Anyim, President Goodluck Jonathan said it was a promise kept.
He said, “Remember, many promises have been given on this airport by many administrations, but when President Jonathan came, he promised and today he has delivered.
“It is a dream come through for the people of South-East.”
The Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, said that she was happy the promise was fulfilled. “The people of the South-East would ever remain happy for this feat.”
She also revealed that already seven foreign airlines have indicated interest to commence operation at the airport.
