Auto crashes claimed the lives of eight PDP members and five others

An auto-crash which occurred in the late hours of Tuesday on Akwa-Enugu express way has claimed the lives of eight Peoples Democratic Party (Abia State chapter) members. This incidence occurred on their return from a ward congress for the party in Anambra State. 

It was gathered that five of them on board of a bus conveying 16 members of the party died on the spot while three others died later. Eight others were seriously injured and are in critical condition.
Mr Sunday Ireogbu, one of the passengers and survivor, claimed that the driver of the bus was over speeding and slipped..
into a ditch.

The victims included aides to the State Chairman of the party, Chief Emma Nwaka, and some members of staff of the party’s secretariat, as well as wards of the party’s chairmen.
The Publicity Secretary of the party in the state, Mr. Uchechi Ogbuka, has confirmed the incident, and described it as “a tragedy.”

In the mean time, another road accident which occurred near Okada village junction, off the Benin-Ore expressway, in Ovia North East Local Government Area, in Edo State has claimed the lives of five people.
Only two people was said to have survived with serious injuries while four died on the spot and another one died before getting to the hospital, when the car ran into a stationary lorry.

Eye-witnesses said the driver of the vehicle was an epileptic patient. The witnesses said the driver had an epileptic seizure, which made him skid off the road and hit the lorry.
